About The Role

The Games Academy is currently seeking to recruit a Course Leader to develop and lead the ambitious new degrees within the Online Game Development subject area, this includes our new undergraduate programmes – BA (Hons) Game Art (Online) and BA (Hons) Game Development (Online), as well as other potential online games courses in the future. These degrees aim to bring our team-based teaching methods established in on-campus courses to students in the online space.
 
You will be responsible for the design and development of curricula and approaches to online teaching within the subject area working with colleagues in the Games Academy and Falmouth Online teams, as well as the management and organisation of courses within your subject grouping and line management of staff.
 
You will also actively shape and contribute to the Games Academy’s research strategy. Notably, setting out to devise methods, tools and practices that are inclusive, creative and designed to enhance game development disciplines, working on impactful research projects in this area in collaboration with others in the Games Academy and wider university, as well as the development of bids for external research funding where appropriate.

About You

The successful candidate for this role will need to be a pro-active leader to successfully deliver, and take ownership of course leadership, research and curriculum development. We are looking for individuals with advanced knowledge of game development and/or game art processes, and ideally an earned doctorate or equivalent research or industry experience in the relevant subject areas.
 
We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:
 
  • Proficiency in Game Art/Game Design or similar 
  • Experience of agile game development pipelines 
  • Implementation of trans-disciplinary learning and teaching strategies at undergraduate level 
  • Experience of delivering online courses
  • Evidence of research informed delivery
  • Collaboration with industry partners, associated research networks and learned societies
  • Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to adapt your communication style to suit the audience
  • A passion for teamwork and building confidence for working in teams.

Due to the online nature of this role, it can be worked remotely, however the successful candidate must be based within the UK.

This is a full time, 35 hours a week position across Monday-Friday.
