About The Role

The Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) at Falmouth University is dedicated to advancing our understanding and innovation at the intersection of creativity and technology. Our research initiatives are housed within dynamic and forward-looking centres, including the Centre for Blended Realities which has recently been established with substantial support from Research England's Expanding Excellence in England (E3) fund.
 
This role is part funded through the Expanding Excellence in England Research England fund. The Centre for Blended Realities (CBR) at Falmouth University is dedicated to pioneering research at the intersection of technology, creativity, and real-world applications. The CBR leverages Falmouth’s 120-year legacy of innovation to integrate novel technologies with artistic and professional practices. Our mission is to make transformative approaches accessible to a diverse community, contributing to Cornwall’s growth as a hub for creative learning and digital innovation.
 
As we expand our RKE capabilities, we are inviting applications for two new Professors to support with our mission to align with Falmouth’s 2030 Vision Statement to be the leading institution for the nexus between creativity and technology, to establish Cornwall as the county for creative learning using innovative and open pedagogies, to develop the next generation of creative leaders and explorers who will change the world through their curious minds, creative impact, and unique skillsets, and to build on our strengths in research and knowledge exchange to deliver experimental, environmental, and societal impact.
 
Measures and indicators of success in this role will be agreed at regular intervals and as part of the annual PDR (Performance Development Review) process, and will include, but are not limited to:
 
  • The number of research, knowledge exchange and innovation bids submitted and won.
  • The number and quality of research outputs of international significance.
  • Delivery of the necessary growth and academic quality required to support achievement of the University’s strategic objectives: in particular, Achieving Research Degree Awarding Powers and Building staff capacity and capability.
  • The University’s performance in quality assurance reports and audits. 
  • The Centre’s performance in relation to the University’s key performance indicators  

About You

These positions are open to experienced candidates across a range of disciplines, including (but not limited to) technology development, digital humanities, and the digital creative industries. We seek individuals who are passionate about interdisciplinary research and working with industry, eager to collaborate with our existing team to push the boundaries of knowledge and practice, provide research leadership at Falmouth.
 
We are seeking internationally recognised researchers with a strong track record in research leadership, pedagogic excellence, securing funding, knowledge exchange, and impact generation, who will drive forward CBR’s mission to integrate novel technologies with artistic and professional practices.

These positions offers a unique opportunity to lead pioneering research, contribute to curriculum innovation, and shape the University’s engagement with immersive and blended realities at both national and international levels.
