About The Role

We are looking to appoint a Software Development Engineer to join our IT & Digital Directorate. This is a key technical role supporting the development and integration of business-critical systems that underpin teaching, learning, research and student experience and an ideal opportunity for a graduate.
 
The successful candidate will work within our Business Applications and Integration team, contributing to the design, development and support of integrations between enterprise applications and our data warehouse. The role focuses on delivering secure, reliable and well-tested solutions that meet evolving organisational needs.
 
You will work across the full development lifecycle, from gathering requirements and designing integrations, through to development, testing, deployment and ongoing support. This includes working with a range of technologies across the Microsoft stack, including SQL Server, .NET (C#), and integration tooling.
 
Alongside development, you will play an active role in testing, documentation, and supporting services in a live environment ensuring a high standard of service for staff and students. The role also involves working with established ITIL-aligned processes, including incident, problem, change and release management.

About You

The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience developing and supporting applications or integrations within a Microsoft-based environment (e.g. C#, .NET, SQL Server), understanding of systems integration approaches, including APIs and web services and data transfer mechanisms
 
You should also posses:
 
  • Experience of testing approaches, including developer testing and user acceptance testing
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and improve technical solutions
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A proactive, organised and customer-focused approach to service delivery
